My Father's Mother and Father

My Father Gave me this when my Mother passed away when I was 22 years old and my Mom was 44...

My Father Dewitt Haga aka (Wimpy,nicknamed that because he loved hamburgers like the Wimpy on Popeye Cartoon) he was born in Morgan County, Alabama 10-05-1937 to 01-29-2004,

He was Son of Miller Arthur Haga 12-29-1897 to 11-02-1977 and Mary Mauzelle Prichett Haga 01-09-1901 to 1998 of Morgan County third generation of Haga. His Grandparents were Annie Francis Haga Bonds and Robert Bonds on his Father's Side that were born in the second generation of Haga Family.

My Father was one of 10 children in the fourth generation of Haga Family. James Vernon,Virginia Lucille,Clarence Leonard,Luther Miller,Eva Lee,Ovelene,Billie Jean,Hershell, Bobbie Fray Haga.

Early in his teens he decided to move to Huntsville and become a Businessman and was very successful in his dreams.

When he was 20 years old, He married Nannie Mae Loveday from Gurley, Alabama and they had my brother Danny Ray Haga 02-22-1957 to 07-26-1992. Daddy had one Grandson by Danny Ray Haga named Daniel Haga which resides in Huntsville, Alabama.

In 10-10,1962 when he was 25 years old he married my Mother Alice Faye Heaton 02-05-1945 to 07-29-1989. My Brother Robert Royce Haga was born September 15,1964 and resides in Huntsville Alabama. Daddy has two Granddaughter's by Robert Haga, Summer Nicole Haga 01-10-1984 to 01-10-1984, Dakota Faye Haga 03-27-1990 of Texas.

In 1965 Daddy and Mama built a home on A.Smith Rd. Route 5 Box 149, Huntsville, Alabama on a two acres of land. On the road where My Mother's Great Uncle lived and Family had named Allison Smith aka A.Smith Rd.

They were already established Business owners with many Oil Companies and Owned Six Full Service Gas Stations with Wrecker Services and were members of The American Service Station Association working with the Governors and many local Business owners in Huntsville, Alabama. They had many friends and operated a Harley Davidson Hill Climb in Riverton as a Hobby started an organization club call the Huntsville Satellite Club for many Local attorneys ,Business owners and Friends.

Daddy was 28 years old and Mama was 21 years old when they had me on 01-17-1967, Daddy has Two Grandsons by me, Dustin Cody Parker 09-29-1985 to 10-30-2006 and Alexander Nielsen born 08-26-1998.

1972, Daddy married Pearl Harris Haga, they moved to be near us children in the Moores Mill area near A.Smith aka Riverton area. A couple of miles from our homestead he and my Mama built. Danny Ray moved in the Moores Mill area on same road as our Dad..

He had retired due to his Health after decades of working non-stop.He was a contractor with a nice GMC Truck to move 14 and 16 wide Mobile Homes that came straight from the factory for Bonnell Enterprises out of Athens Alabama all over the east coast. He Took me many times and taught me to drive a big rig bob tailed he called it. He also taught me work ethic by having me washing his truck inside and out on weekends.

Even after he Retired he stayed busy around his farm. He would take Rescue Horses and train them. He was a Huge animal lover. And a Man to Respect. He loved to his core being and always smiled and got along with people of all walks of life as he learned from all the Customer Service that all his Businesses entailed.

He was a true cowboy. He always wore a very nice cowboy hat and Boots while smoking and chewing on cigars. There wasn't much he couldn't do. He was an excellent Welder and very creative, could make something out of nothing. I always admired him for his intelligence and teachings. My Son Dustin reminds me of my Father as he had the same concept and was driven to succeed and working so hard. always on call 24/7.

After the Shell Station closed on Governors Drive, Huntsville, Alabama he decided to start a Mobile Home towing and Escort Service out of Huntsville, Alabama which ended up being his career for many years until he Retired. My Father died in Daytona Beach, Florida on vacation in a very tragic death to suicide a month after his divorce was final of 32 year marriage. It broke our hearts and his grandchildrens/family and friends. As my Dad was a very Holy Man like my Son Dustin and would always quote scripture to me and his. Would not ever let you sit anything on top of our Family Bible or any Bible for that matter. My Dad did reach out according to Police Report to no avail before he made this decision.He had just turned 66 years old 3 months before he died.

This is why it's so important to me that there is Suicide awareness available and if you think you or your family/friends someone is in that state of mind, do everything in your power to help that person.  This is very REAL and is 3rd leading cause of death. We are losing to many Family Members/ Friends/Soldiers/Children/Elderly to this and they range of all ages.

I've known many people in my Hometown and went to school with,others in my family, friends, people of all classes that don't TALK about it due to the Stigma of shame associated with it but believe me.. we need to keep providing awareness. Don't feel ashamed to get HELP. PLEASE REACH OUT.

Let's not remember them for the one wrong decision they made in their life, let's be thankful for the time we had and Respect the people they were. If it's your belief they're not forgiven. I respectfully ask you to leave that between them and GOD.

My Dad Gave this to My Mom May 20.1963 and I'll Continue Handing It Down to Our Upcoming Children and Keep It In The Family.

In Loving Memory Of My Mother Alice Parker

She was a Mother to all children and welcomed them into her home and would be a shoulder to cry on or to lift spirits with her love for laughter.

February 05.2010 would be my Mother's 65th Birthday. On July 29.1989 five months after her 44th Birthday we lost our Mom to Congested Heart Failure.

She was a Mother to us three children and we are so grateful for her raising. She taught us the Golden Rules and Right from Wrong. She knew we'd have to learn on our own but her teachings has remained and will always remain in our hearts.

To know Mama was to love her, she loved all ages and was a personable person. She knew a lot of people and people would come to her for help and she would gladly be there for them and it did her heart good to help someone out. I always admired that about my Mother.

When Mama found out I was about to have her First grandchild, My Son Dustin she was so happy and without her I would've been lost as she taught me to put my children first and that children are a God Send.

Mama now has 10 Grandchildren and I know it would do her heart well to know what good kids all of them are.

Mama is missed more than words can say, not just by her family but all the people that came into her short life.

She will be Forever 44 years old and was such a Mother, Daughter,Sister,Niece, Aunt, Business Woman and My Best Friend.

Lessons From Geese

Fact One

As each goose flaps it's wings it creates an "uplift" for the birds that follow. By following the "V" formation, the whole flock adds 71% greater flying range than if each bird flew alone.

~Lesson~People who share a common direction and sense of community can get where they are going quicker and easier because they are travelling on the trust of one another.
Fact Two

When a goose falls out of formation, it suddenly feels the drag and resistance of flying alone. It quickly moves back into formation to take advantage of the lifting power of the bird immediately in front of it.

~Lesson~If we have as much sense as a goose we stay in formation with those headed where we want to go. We are willing to accept their help and give our help to others.
Fact Three

When the lead goose tires, it rotates back in to the formation and another goose flies to the point position.

~Lesson~It pays to take turns doing the hard tasks and sharing leadership. As with geese, people are interdependent on each other's skills, capabilities and unique arrangements of gifts, talents and resources.

Fact Four

The geese flying in formation honk to encourage those up front to keep up with their speed.

~Lesson~We need to make sure our honking is encouraging. In groups where there is encouragement, production is much greater. Individual empowerment results from quality honking.

Fact Five

When a goose gets sick, wounded or shot down, two geese drop out of formation to follow it down to help and protect it. They stay with it until it dies or is able to fly again. Then, they launch out with another formation or catch up with the flock.

~Lesson~If we have as much sense as geese, we will stand by each other in difficult times as well as when we are strong.

I'll never forget wishing for you every time I walked near a wishing well throwing change in. I was 18 years old when you were born. You grounded me and gave me purpose which was the best gift God could've provided for me.

My Mother, Grandma Alice was so happy, as you were her first Grandson and first grandchild. She would make sure I had all I wanted to eat and clothes I needed as you grew inside me.

Your Doctor was Dr. Aulds here in Huntsville, Alabama. He was a great doctor with a huge amount of compassion.

Your Pediatrician was Dr. Sherrill and he is the best here in Huntsville, He would have us meet him in middle of night at his office just to calm your fever and get your asthma back ok for us to return home.

My Mother and her husband Jimmy walked every step with me, they would make me walk everyday to ease my labor.

I gained over 60 pounds as I was really enjoying all the good food My Mother was making for us.

On September 29.1985, My Mother and I had already made a plan of action just in case we had to rush to hospital. My Mother being the strong, in charge one, said we'd follow her lead. Which was fine with me because I believed in my Mother, she had already had three children.

We had just awoke and she'd made me this huge bowl of cereal, I was really getting into eating it and felt like I need to go to restroom, I get up to go and the WATER wouldn't stop! It felt like a continuing pee. I ran and told my Mother and she started yelling and jumping up and down and going into hysterics. Made me scared because she was suppose to be strong one.

She finally calmed down enough to call Dr. Aulds and he told her load me up and come on to Huntsville Hospital, So, Here Mother, Jimmy and Me go.

We get there and Mother tells them I want all natural childbirth with no medicine or epidural, I agreed as I don't know what I was thinking, except after the pains started I prayed to the good lord above I'd never have sex again.

We were in labor 16 hours, it was the older time where they give you enema and you lose all your modesty, My Mother said.

My Mother was my coach, and she had all the nurses gear on and tears just rolled down her beautiful face. Dustin was her's just as much as mine. He weighed in at 6lbs.10oz. 19inches

I didn't know until afterwards My Grandmother "Lucy" My Mothers Mom was there, Sandra my BFF, and Jimmy, My Mothers Husband. where all in waiting room.

Dustin was a great child, there isn't anywords that could express the way I feel about him. I do feel however, He's now with My Mother and Father In Heaven and watching down on me from the Heavens.
He Lived to be 21 Years old 1Month and 1 Day.
He gave to the World and is Loved by Many.
May He Rest In Peace.

On The Day You Were Born My Son Alex

August 26. 1998 at 9:24pm you entered into the world. You were born in Southaven Mississippi right at the state line of Tennessee into Memphis and just a mile from Elvis Presley's House at Graceland. The Hospital was Desoto Baptist Hospital.
We named the Video Store "King Video after Elvis, because he's the King of Rock' n Roll the store was on Elvis Presley Blvd. You spent many hours there in your infant seat and your play pin.

Our Doctor was Dr. Dang. You weighed in at 7 pounds. and was 20 inches. long.

You were going to be born on August 25.1998 but the hospital was full and there were no more beds available.

Your brother Dustin was there and he was amazed at your sky blue eyes. Both your Grandmother's were there on your father's side and my parents in our hearts. You had an audience waiting for you to arrive.

You and Your brother were 13 years apart. You were born one month after your cousin Parker and five months after your cousin MaKayla. I was 31 years old. You were a surprise and a true gift from God and I'm so blessed to be your Mother.

You have always been such a smart young man. There were times that you did get into stuff like tearing a feather pillow open and feather's multiplied all over the place and I'd never seen so many feather's. I know that you have love and compassion for people just like your brother and that makes me very happy. I love it that you say please, thank you, and are such a little gentleman already at 11.

I Love you Sweet Baby. Happy 11th Birthday!

Alzheimer's runs in many families including mine on both my Mother and Father's side of the family. My Great Grandmother Mintie Davis suffered from this very real disease. My Mother "Alice Parker" took care of our Grandma in the late 1960's and early 1970's.

In our neighborhood growing up in Madison County, Al. aka. Riverton, there were four families all in all nine girls and two boys and MawMaw Bogue. There were four Mother's and they all helped raise us and MawMaw Bogue would keep us in line also. These ladies were some of the strongest ladies I've ever known. We have lost my Mother "Alice Parker" 20 years ago this past July 31.2009 of Heart Failure at the tender age of 44. We lost Dorothy & Lisa's Mom "Jimmie Ann Wilbourn" to Cancer at a very young age. We Lost MawMaw Bogue to Cancer, Grandma to Sherry,Ronnie,Sandra & Brenda and Wanda Wilbourn's Mother.

Wanda Wilbourn is Sherry,Ronnie,Sandra and Brenda's Mother, she is always been like a second Mother to me and anybody that needed a hand or needed their spirits lifted if they were having a sad day. I admire Wanda so much because I've watched her my whole life make goals and succeed in every career choice she ever made besides watching her raise her four children and having a hand in raising the rest of us. A Strong mind and still pretty sharp on her good days.

Wanda has Alzheimer's and has suffered from it for several years now and I'm asking anyone who's listening to keep her and My BFF's in your prayers and please contribute to bringing awareness and supporting the cause and the Cancer and Heart Foundation.

A White Chevy Van he bought from someone needing money, never drove and gave away,His Friend Patrick's Red Cougar he had his first wreck in,he had to pay for and he gave away to a friend of his Darrel, A Black Chevy Tahoe 4x4 that he bought off a car lot,was broken into and someone took his sound system. 1969 Pontiac Lemans he bought from a man that had kept the car in a garage and was two owner,it's been given to Dustin's cousin for her first car. 2002 Chevy SUV 4x4 is what he hauled his equipment in,the tires and wheels got stole off of it and it was left on blocks, he got tires back on it and it's here in Alabama, 2006 Mercedes SLK he leased in Feb.2006 he liked but it stayed in the garage for the most of 2006 and went back to the dealer after he passed. His little brother loved riding with the top down on that car and thought his brother was the coolest.

15. He went across the country when he was 11 on the Big Red Disney Boat.

16.He had eye surgery when he was 10 yrs. old at Crippled Children's Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama. He was legally blind in his left eye.

32.He could walk up to any dog and make friends, he loved dogs and wasn't ever worried they'd bite him.

40.He for the most part wore Polo's, Khaki pants or shorts, although he had an Armani Suit and Italian Ties when needed, he didn't care for the pastel colors.

41.He was very simple man and easy to please, when he was little we would pull up to a fast food restaurant and ask what he wanted and he'd say "whatever you can afford"

42.He collected shot glasses, and had a silver bar set, he knew how to have a good time.

43.He was very laid back, rarely did he get mad, but if he did he was pushed to the point.

44.He could build big Star War Starships out of Lego's, He could create all kinds of amazing stuff. his little brother loved that.

45.He would make sure his brother and any one he cared about had the best holidays, birthday's, he was very generous and loved doing good things for people without expectation.

46.He would spend hours on calls for business, if they needed to talk all night then he would if that's what it took.

47.He flew all over the United States, he drove to California & Las Vegas from Colorado

48.He learned to drive mostly in Denver, Colorado. He loved driving in the snow.

49.He never forgot his Roots, his Southern upbringing or his family and was a Gentleman.

50.He played the Cello & Drums.His first concert was Black Sabbath, His Favorite Artist hands down was OZZY.

Tower's death tugs at plenty of hearts in community

Clarence Wiley respected mentor for many in trade

At his memorial service last week, Clarence Wiley's friends wanted to pay him a fitting tribute.

So fellow tow truck driver Jeff Patten rolled Wiley's empty rig onto his own roll-back wrecker and led a procession of more than 20 tow trucks to the grave site, escorted by police officers.

"Even the police got out and stood at attention," Patten said. "He was very, very well respected in the community. Everybody who's in the towing business who was age 25 or over knew him."

Wiley died Jan. 9 after battling cancer. He was 73.

Anyone working in the close-knit towing community in Huntsville had likely gotten advice or help from Wiley, Patten said.

He served as a mentor for many people going into the towing business.

"He taught the fundamentals of how to operate a small business and how to respect people and how to talk to people," he said. "He taught people how to be patient and go with the flow."

Sometimes, going with the flow meant helping stranded motorists, even though they didn't have the money to pay for towing.

That was his way of walking his Christian faith, friends and family said.

"He never turned anybody down. He was always willing to help anybody who came to his door," said granddaughter Brandi Williamson. "If they were stuck on the side of the road but didn't have any money, he didn't charge them anything."

"Mr. Wiley taught every one of us something. His favorite word was 'babydoll.' He'd say 'babydoll, just stay right there - I'll take care of it.'

"He was a real good friend. He'd help anybody."

Wiley played an active role in raising his three grandchildren, who would hang out with him at the Union 76 service station he owned for many years on Governors Drive, where the Bandito Burrito restaurant sits today.

"Even at age 32, I was still calling if I had a problem, asking for Papa's help," Williamson said. "He had me and my mom spoiled. He always called us 'his girls.'"

"He had us in church every Sunday," said grandson Joshua Hargrove. "He was a very strong believer and had very strong faith in the Lord."

Wiley operated the service station for 27 years, winning several industry awards. He closed the store in the 1980s and focused on his tow truck operation. He was a big fan of racing, and supported former NASCAR driver Jimmy Means, Williamson said.

He was head deacon at Believers Fellowship full gospel church.

Wiley's wife, Jewel, died last August. He is survived by his daughter, Janet Wiley, three grandchildren, Brandi Williamson, Joshua Hargrove and Tommy Hargrove, and 10 great-grandchildren.
